Aidan O'Brien spoke positively about CAUSEWAY on a recent press day, and the easy Curragh maiden winner may progress enough to take this. Breaking Dawn was a Curragh maiden winner himself just a week ago, and he ticks a lot of boxes if this doesn't come too soon. Cotai Lights is an interesting English raider making his turf debut following good AW runs, while fellow AW performer Son Of Beauty is open to any amount of progression on just his third start. [Denis Harney] Show less
Spotlight: Finished 5.5l behind better fancied stablemate on debut at Gowran (1m, heavy); dropped back to 7f at the Curragh (soft to heavy) and kept on well to go 2.25l clear at the finish, second and fifth have won subsequently; trainer spoke positively about him at recent press day and is a major player on handicap debut.
Spotlight: Good effort to win his third maiden start over 6f at the Curragh last week, appearing to benefit from the addition of cheekpieces (retained) when keeping on well; ground should suit and return to 7f shouldn't be an issue; a lot to like as long as this doesn't come too soon.
Spotlight: Barrier trial runner-up; promise in two turf starts before career best at Dundalk in September when a 0.75l runner-up (1m); gelded since then and now makes handicap debut; not ruled out.
Spotlight: Eye-catching Dundalk debut when keeping on in the closing stages to take a 0.75l third behind Flanker Jet (7f); built on that to score last time by a head, upped to 1m; this is just his third start and handicap debut so more improvement is very feasible, albeit his mark doesn't look like a giveaway.
Spotlight: Winless from seven, but beaten just a nose on her penultimate start in a Dundalk 7f handicap in February; going nowhere at the Curragh last time before rallying late to take a 1.75l fourth of 12 (6f, heavy); relatively unexposed, this just her fifth handicap, but races from 6lb outside the handicap proper.
Spotlight: Midfield finish on debut at Chelmsford; left that behind when easily winning a Newcastle novice (6f) 16 days later; upped in class earlier this month back at Newcastle (6f) when third of five, lacking the pace of the front two but keeping on; step up in trip looks like a positive; English raider is in the mix on turf debut.
Spotlight: Comfortable winner of a Listowel maiden at the third attempt (1m, heavy); solid third of 12 at Leopardstown when last seen on handicap debut (1m, yielding to soft); up 1lb for that but she has shown nice progression to date.
Spotlight: In good form at Dundalk over the winter; placed in opening two m'dens there before making the breakthrough in a 7f contest in January; beaten just a nose over the same trip next time; appeared not to stay a mile before beating his odds-on 99-rated stablemate by a head over 6f when last seen; interesting race-fit contender now returned to turf.
Spotlight: Won a Bellewstown maiden over 1m (good) before outclassed in a Group 3; better again when runner-up in a 7.5f Roscommon conditions race on soft (form just okay); pressed winner before weakening quickly into a 13.5l fifth of five at Listowel when last seen (1m, heavy); others make more appeal.
Spotlight: Maiden form is nothing to shout about; gelded since a 10.5l seventh of nine at Gowran in September (1m, heavy); 4lb wrong here for handicap debut and dropping to 7f; Holohan has been in good form at Dundalk over the winter and is value for his 7lb claim.
Spotlight: Winner of his second maiden start for Aidan O'Brien in a 5f contest here following the application of blinkers in September; upped to Listed level at Dundalk (7f) next time but finished last of eight, weakening from 1f out; cheekpieces on now but questions remain regarding this trip.
Spotlight: Sligo maiden winner on debut by a head (6f, good to yielding); finished 7.5l behind next time at Roscommon (7.5f, soft); ran poorly on handicap debut here in October (6f, yielding); down 4lb, gelded since then and cheekpieces go on; others preferred.
Spotlight: Bolted up in second maiden start at Dundalk in October (7f), although form is questionable; ran creditably when second in a median auction race back at Dundalk in December (7f); always behind over 1m last time; marks seems high enough.
